Aaditya hrudayam punyam sarva shatru vinaashanam Jayaavaham japennityam akshayyam paramam shivam.
Sarvamangalamaangalyam sarvapaapapranaashanam. Chintaashokaprashamanam aayurvardhanamuttamam.
Aaditya-hridayam means the "Heart of Sun". This is the most powerful sloka about Sun which is an eternal source of energy.
Reciting this sloka has the following benefits:
1. Eliminates your enemies (Of course, dharma matters. Its not like, blindly nuking anyone and everyone you don't like)
2. Makes you Victorious
3. Bring Supreme Bliss
4. Eradicates all sins
5. Alleviates worries, anxiety
6. Increases longevity
It is suggested that one chants the Gayatri mantra(if mantropadesham (initiation) has already been obtained from Guru) 3 times before and after reciting Aaditya Hridayam.
I have heard a lot of successful people explaining how they benefited from this great hymn.
Funny that I learnt it because cricketer Krishnamachari Srikanth mentioned during a speech in one of my school functions that he chanted it every time he went out to bat. :)
It is auspicious to chant on Sundays facing the Sun.
Happy Chanting.!
